A 301 redirect means that the page has moved to a new location, permanently. A 302 redirect means that the move is temporary.

For the non-technical, a 301 and 302 redirect sounds foreign. definition from the web: to direct (someone or something) to a different place or by a different route. To make it simpler, redirecting a page often means you're assigning a new URL to it.

If you ever faced a situation in which you have to change the old url to a new one, then there you have two options, one is if you want to permanently move your old your url to new one the use 301 redirect, which is a permanent redirect, and your url will be replaced in search results by search engines, and if you want to redirect old url to new one for temporary, then you can use 302 which is also known as temporary redirect.
